RF Welding is short for Radio Frequency welding. It is also referred to as High Frequency or HR Welding and Dielectric welding. RF welding works by sending a specific frequency of high energy radio waves through certain materials causing the molecules in the material to oscillate. The friction of the oscillating molecules generates heat that melts the material together. Subsequent cooling of the material forms a weld that is as strong as the original material.
The welding tool can be engraved to emboss letters, logos, patterns or other surface effects in the weld area.
A tear seal can be incorporated into the welding tool so that parts can in effect be cut during the welding process.
Appliqué welding is where compatible material is added to the weld area creating a decorative effect. Transfer labels can be incorporated onto parts using this technique. |
